ASSISTANT PERFUMER

We are seeking an individual (or individuals) interested in becoming an Assistant Perfumer. Following a period of training, this position will be responsible for staffing our in-store custom blend bar and our fragrance bar at offsite events when the Perfumer is away or requires assistance. 

Qualifications:

  • Dependability

  • Flexibility in scheduling

  • Access to a dependable vehicle and ability to travel up to 50 miles for offsite events

  • Sensitive and discriminating olfaction*

  • Enjoys facilitating and encouraging creativity and playfulness in others

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Instruct and guide clients in composing their custom fragrance at the in-store custom blend bar and offsite fragrance bar

  • Compound finished fragrance using a formula written in units of metric volume.

  • Keep in-store custom blend bar and offsite fragrance bar tidy and stocked with accords and supplies.

  • Travel to offsite events and set-up fragrance bar on-time. Open retail shop on-time.

  • Operate point-of-sale

  • Keep retail shop and merchandise tidy and attractive. Perform light housekeeping as directed by Perfumer.

This position is on an as-needed basis, and the schedule is part-time and flexible.  The schedule is determined in collaboration with the Perfumer and would be set at least two weeks in advance (a month or more is typical).  The majority of hours will be on weekends with some weekday evenings.

Compensation starts at $15/hr and is on a 1099-basis. For offsite events, you will be paid for travel time, mileage, and gas.

* The ideal candidate will be able to distinguish a wide range of aromas. The Perfumer will train in developing and refining olfaction and in using language to communicate olfactory experiences.
